Exclusive Hybrid — propagation restricted
Gator Tail is proprietary genetics of Hybridizing Dragon Fruit LLC. Plant material of any kind — unrooted cuttings, cladodes, rooted plants, flowers and tissue cultures — is supplied for personal cultivation and personal fruit production only. Pollen, seeds and harvested fruit are not restricted: these are free to distribute, and a seedling grown from such seed is a new cross.
Propagating, cloning, multiplying or tissue-culturing it for commercial sale, barter or trade is prohibited, and so is selling, exchanging, distributing, gifting or otherwise transferring the plant material to any third party, without prior expressed written consent. See the full Exclusive Hybrid clause.
These terms will apply when Gator Tail becomes available. You will be asked to accept them once, at that point — joining the waitlist commits you to nothing.
Gator Tail has not been released yet. It is real, it is growing here, and everything below was measured on our own plants — but we are building up stock before selling any, so that when it does go on sale we can fill the orders instead of selling out in a day. The release will be announced on our YouTube channel.

How it got its name
This one we affectionately call "Gator Tail" due to the amount of 4 sided branches this plant produces that resemble alligator tails.
When to pick it
Gator Tail reaches peak ripeness 35–40+ days from pollination.
Picked at around 35 days the sweet/tart ratio is at its most balanced, and the flavor is at its most complex. Left to 40 days or beyond it becomes intensely sweet, but loses some of that flavor complexity.
Before you buy one
Gator Tail is not self-fertile. On its own it will flower but not set fruit. It needs pollen from a different variety, applied by hand on the night the flower opens — which takes about a minute and is genuinely enjoyable.

Full siblings
Gator Tail came out of the same cross as 3 other varieties on this site. They are siblings, not clones — every seedling from a cross is genetically its own plant, which is why they taste and look different.
- Florida Man — A top tier fruit with the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Averaging over a pound in size, with a flavor so good… it's CRAZY!
- Peachy Keen — The first ever PEACH flavored dragon fruit! Complex, wonderfully sweet, and mouth wateringly tangy!
- Plumb Crazy — An absolutely delicious and incredibly sweet plum flavor, complex and rich with subtle notes and a wonderful tanginess.
